Some facts about the upper portion.
The statue was created in stages, as projects
of this magnitude sometimes are. The top section of the statue was completed after over 3
years of work and about five hundred pounds of copper, brass and stainless steal and of
course a vision in the mind and eye of it's creator Duilio Clemente.
There is a complete inner skeleton made of metal and the outer shell is finished
with more detail than a photo could ever show. The face is a molded replica of Duilio's
lovely wife Valentina cast in bronze and mounted with pride and joy. The torch is unique,
complete with a lighted globe to replicate a burning torch. The whole statue can be taken
apart or re-assembled by it's creator in about 8 hours or so.
